Jean’s Bio
Welcome to my corner.
When asked to describe myself, I would respond that I am a “little Italian girl”. But to truly give an account of my life would take more than three words. As a child, I shared with my parents all the roles I aspired to fill, and as life progressed, I’ve met most of those goals.
An accident when I was four slowed my progress, but I kept my mind busy with reading and music. Once I was healed, my father would tell me that I never sat still. He promised me a present if I could sit in the kitchen chair and stay still for 5 minutes. Of course, I was so excited, but I stayed in the chair. He went to his room and brought me a new book. My Dad was always the epitome of fun. I will remember him always saying “Padre, figlio, spirito santo.”
Creating small “books” for my younger brother is what ignited the passion for storytelling. Since then, I’ve captivated my children, kids in Tiger Cubs, children I cared for in the hospital, and friends with tales. Now I put them on paper, always remembering the importance of family, culture and food.
Writing, baking, teaching pasta making, and being grateful for all things keep me busy today.
What else is new?
Other things I’ve written;
Flash fiction is fun to write, and I will update this site periodically with some stories.
Many picture books are in the queue. One of those will likely be the next to be published.
I am noodling some young adult and suspense.
Books I’ve read.
Right now, I am reading “The Book of Lost Hours” by Haley Gelf.
A fun book was “The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife” by Anna Johnston.
I recommend “Olivetti” by Allie Millington.
Let me know if you have suggestions I might like.
What’s cooking?
For those of you who remember Balboni’s Bakery, this is my attempt at star bread. Yes, it was good.
I love baking.
My most recent baked good was a plum torte.
I think I will try a Japanese milk bread next week.
I always like ideas for stories.
What are your thoughts on a setting or a character? Is there an issue that you would like to see presented?
